How to Minimize Pores

While harmless, large pores are one of the skin complaints that we hear about the most. If you suffer from large pores, you can blame your parents as pore size is genetically determined. While you can’t get rid of your pores, it is possible to minimize the appearance, by using the right products and ingredients.

Pores are actually the openings of hair follicles, each containing a sebaceous gland. Sebaceous glands produce your skin’s natural oils, which is why pores are usually more noticeable and larger on oilier parts of the face, such as the forehead or nose. This is also why people with naturally oilier skin tend to have larger pores. The good news is that having oilier skin can help ward off wrinkles and fine lines.

The key to minimizing large pores lies in your skincare routine. Using the right products to cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize your skin will greatly minimize the appearance of large pores. Dead skin cells, trapped sebum, and other debris can stretch out pores and make them more visible, making proper cleansing and exfoliation even more important. It’s also important to protect your skin against UV rays as they can weaken the collagen that keeps your pores tight.
