Cleansers for Every Skin Type

Cleansing your skin is one of the biggest steps in your skincare routine, think of it as what sets the tone for everything else. Choosing the right cleanser is super important; choose the wrong one and you could either dry your skin out or clog your pores. Neither of which is very conducive to great skin.

First things first, you need to identify your skin type before finding the right cleansing products. Start by washing and toning your face, then wait for a couple of hours. After about two hours, check your skin. If your skin feels tight and looks dry or even flaky in areas, you’ve probably guessed that you have dry skin. If you can see fine lines or your skin feels a little saggy, you should use a product designed for mature skin. And if your skin looks really shiny, you’ve got oily skin. If you find that different parts of your face look or feel different, then you, like many people around the world, have combination skin.

Now that you’ve figured out your skin type, we can move on to choosing the right cleanser.

Dry Skin: Eucerin DermatoCLEAN 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Fluid – Dry skin needs to be hydrated while it is cleansed, so avoid traditional foaming gels, which can be a little too drying. Instead, opt for a gentle cleansing water, like this 3-in-1 cleansing fluid. It contains moisture-attracting and plumping hyaluronic acid, and hydrating glycol-glyceral to soothe and moisturize your skin while it removes all traces of makeup and the day’s grime.

Oily Skin: Bioderma Sebium Moussant Gel – Lots of people think that harsh products are necessary to control oily skin, but the truth is that oily skin is a little more sensitive than people think. Harsh products and cleansers can over-dry the skin, which in turn over-compensates by creating even more oil. The key is finding a balance. This gel-mousse cleanser is soap-free and will deep cleanse your skin without over-drying or irritating it. It also contains Bioderma’s Fluidactiv Sebum-Correcting Complex to regulate sebum production.

Mature Skin: Exuviance Purifying Cleansing Gel – When it comes to fighting the signs of aging, every step counts, including cleansing. This gel cleanser is non-drying and contains alpha hydroxy and poly hydroxy acids to give you a youthful glow, while added conditioners soothe and retuxturize. And, like any good cleanser, this one also removes makeup and impurities.

Combination Skin: Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel – Combination skin is teensy bit more difficult, because it’s important to cleanse oily zones without irritating any sensitive or dry areas. This cleansing gel is soap-free and contains no harsh, irritating detergents. It contains natural Chilean Soap Bark extract to gently deep cleanse your skin, while balm mint and lavender soothe. This is also a great option for any skin type.
