Dealing with Combination Skin

Having combination skin can be very frustrating. If you have combination skin, you may have to deal with dry, oily and normal areas, all at the same time, which may leave you thinking ‘why can’t my skin just make up its mind’?

Combination skin is a lot more common than you may think. There are a number of factors behind combination skin, including genetics, the weather, and even the type of products you have been using.

Most people with combination skin have dry or normal skin on their cheeks combined with an oily T-zone (forehead, nose and chin). This means each area has different needs and must be treated accordingly. Using an allover product that is too heavy will clog your T-zone, but using one that is too harsh can irritate dry patches.

The good news? With a little TLC, you can keep your skin under control and restore balance. Plus, having more than one skin type means you get to try more products!

Here are our favourite products to balance out combination skin:

1. Elemis Balancing Lime Blossom Cleanser – This cleanser will cleanse and purify any oily, acne-prone areas without drying out the rest of your skin. Lime Blossom extract will balance, repair and soothe.

2. Dr. Hauschka Normalizing Day Oil – We love a good face oil, and this one’s no exception. The light formula absorbs quickly and contains moisturizing sweet almond, soothing calendula and breakout-busting neem.

3. Bliss Steep Clean Pore Purifying Mask – Masks are where you get to have a little more fun. Use a refining mask on oily areas and a moisturizing one on dry parts. This deep cleansing and purifying mask will clear out and decongest pores in your T-zone, as well as minimize breakouts and brighten your skin.

4. Lierac Comfort Mask – Treat dry or sensitive areas with this beautifully-scented mask. Shea butter and apricot moisturize without overloading, while pink clay and rose extract soothe and soften.
