This week, we take peek into jewelry designer Melissah Russo’s beauty routine. The Melbourne-native’s label, Lady Mauve, has been making waves at some of the hottest boutiques and markets in Dubai and Australia. Melissah’s handmade pieces feature raw crystals and shiny metals in her signature feminine-with-an-edge style, and are quickly being snapped up by the city’s hottest tastemakers. Adding to her cool factor, Melissah chose the name Lady Mauve as a nod to Lady Pink, the first female graffiti artist. Melissah’s designs may have captured the heart of the fashion crowd, but it’s her gorgeous skin and shiny locks that have us hooked. Read on for this boho-chic beauty’s top tips!
1. What does a normal day look like for you?
Every day is different. My long hour days are mostly on weekends, setting up my pop-up stalls around markets in Dubai. My usual mornings consist of waking up around 9am, getting all my emails and social media done by around midday, then after that, if I don’t have meetings to attend, I might do some production work, or head out and source for new materials for my latest collection.
2. How do you look after yourself? Do you work out, meditate, get massages, etc?
I’m addicted to Body Balance and try to get to 3 classes a week. I do enjoy getting massages too, on a rare occasion.
3. What do you do to relax at the end of a long, stressful day?
If I’m having a stressful day, I will attend Body Balance in the afternoon and after the class, I will sit in the steam/sauna room for 10 mins each. It always helps me to relax.
4. How would you describe your beauty personality? Low maintenance or high maintenance? An experimenter or loyal to one regimen?
I would have to say that I’m in-between. Over the years I have tried a lot of different beauty products, but there are a few products, that I love and stick too, as they work for my skin type. If I’m heading out during the day to run errands, I will only wear light make-up.
5. What type of skin do you have?
Combination with an oily T-Zone.
6. Describe your morning beauty routine.
I cleanse, tone, and moisturize every morning. Right now my products include a cleanser with coconut extract, which I absolute love, a balancing toner with green tea and lightweight facial hydrating cream.
7. Describe your evening beauty routine.
If I’m wearing a full face of make-up, I always make sure I use baby wipes to remove most of it before I cleanse my face. I cleanse, tone and moisturize every night as well, using the same products.
8. Do you have any natural or DIY skincare or beauty remedies that you can share with us?
I have recently started drinking coconut water every day and swear by it. I have clearer/brighter skin and feel more hydrated.
9.Who are your beauty role models?
My mum. She made sure I started good skin care habits, from a young age. I also adore Miranda Kerr.
10. What is the best skincare or beauty advice that you’ve ever received?
Drink plenty of water and try to get 8 hours of sleep most nights.
